About WIIT

The Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT) is the premier non-partisan professional organization in Washington, D.C. for individuals -- particularly women -- who share a strong interest and expertise in the field of international trade. In addition to its first-rate substantive programs, WIIT is recognized for its range of professional development supports. It is the only trade organization in the Washington, DC area that keeps you ahead on trade news while also expanding your professional skills and opportunities.

WIIT has earned this status by offering monthly luncheons and myriad brownbag briefings with distinguished officials on current trade topics and trends. It puts its members in touch with the policymakers and business leaders shaping international commerce today.

On a more personal level, WIIT offers a far-reaching curriculum of programs designed to boost individual professional growth. In addition to its numerous "how to" events on honing job skills, WIIT sponsors a mentoring program, job bank, foreign language groups and numerous networking events.

WIIT publishes a quarterly newsletter that serves as a valuable outlet for members to author articles on their chosen area of expertise. And, because it is a volunteer-run organization, WIIT offers members important leadership opportunities through service on its management team and Board of Directors.

Importantly, WIIT is a benefactor in the Washington, DC trade community. It supports initiatives to broaden public understanding of international trade through the WIIT Charitable Trust.

WIIT DC is the largest and most active chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade, an umbrella association of women trade professionals around the world, including the U.S., Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Pacific Rim.

WIIT's mission is to consolidate its position as the premier Washington, DC. organization devoted to enhancing the careers of individuals in international trade by (1) offering a broad range of substantive programs pertaining to both policy and technical aspects of trade, (2) providing professional development initiatives aimed at addressing the challenges of career advancement at all levels both in the public and private sectors, (3) undertaking initiatives aimed at encouraging employment, particularly of women, in international trade, and (4) enhancing public awareness of the importance of international commerce and (4) promoting common cause and social activities among individuals employed in international trade.
