INTRODUCING THE NEW OWIT LOGO
OWIT continues to review
and update its brand. As part of this process, the OWIT Board recently voted
on a new logo to better speak to OWIT's vision, mission and values.
- The OWIT vision is
to become the premier global association for women interested in international
trade.
- OWIT's mission is:
United around the globe to foster free trade and the advancement of women
in business.
- OWIT's core values
are: economic empowerment of women, global leadership, and diversity.
Start looking out for
this new logo which will be in use by all OWIT chapters to give the organization
a consistent look and feel around the world.
OWIT Chapter
Highlight - Organization of Women in International Trade - Toronto (OWIT-Toronto).
OWIT-Toronto was formed
in March 2000 as the first Canadian chapter of OWIT. The chapter's primary
goals are:
- Business: To
promote international trade and commerce.
- Networking: To
establish and expand international business contacts, particularly among
women.
- Education: To
help members develop global business skills and stay current on international
issues
These goals are reflected
in the chapters programs. Highlights for this year have so far included:
- A "Careers
in International Trade" seminar hosted by the OWIT-Toronto student
chapter! Guest speakers included representatives from Export Development
Canada, Ontario Exports Inc., Expeditors International, the British Consulate
General, and Loop Media.
- A Sales and Marketing
Techniques to Develop International Business breakfast roundtable at
which Angela Santomieri, founder of Langu-EDGE Solutions Inc, discussed
the importance of utilizing appropriate marketing and communication tools
when doing business in foreign markets. She provided several useful and
practical yet simple tips to assist women exporters to more confidently
craft the marketing messages about their products and services for delivery
in foreign markets.
Other events in
2006 will include the following Chapter staples:
- The OWIT - Toronto
Annual JoAnna Townsend Award,
a tradition started in 2004 to recognize an outstanding woman in Ontario
who through her business and personal networks created opportunities to
actively support women entrepreneurs to achieve success in international
business.
- Global Update on
Key Markets,
the chapter's famed regional trade update where OWIT members successfully
doing business globally in the U.S., Mexico, Africa, China, and Australia
share tips and lessons learned.
- OWIT-Toronto's Holiday
Event, which
has become a not-to-be-missed event.
Of course, members from
this dynamic chapter will attend the OWIT conference. They will be there in
force to support their Woman of the Year awardee, Andrina Lever.
