A Congressional Trade Staff Reception
November 14, 2007

On November 14, WIIT's Legislative Affairs Committee organized a reception for Trade Staff on the Hill. Over 70 staffers joined WIIT members for an informal opportunity to meet and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres. Susan Schmidt, WIIT's President, took the opportunity to introduce WIIT to some who might not yet have heard of it as well as reintroduce WIIT to others, and to highlight WIIT's role in Washington as a forum for discussion about substantive trade issues. The reception also was an opportunity to encourage Hill staff to join WIIT. In addition to the ongoing support from WIIT's corporate members, we received additional support from some of those same members and other companies involved with WIIT. These included at the "gold level" Baxter Healthcare; Manatt Phelps & Phillips/ManattJones Global Strategies; Sandler Travis & Rosenberg; and U.S.-Russia Business Council; at the "silver level" the Angola Trade Representative Office-ANIP; The Boeing Company; Kissinger McLarty; Phillips Electronics; and Sidley Austin Brown & Wood; and at the "bronze level" the National Association of Manufacturers. The Legislative Affairs Committee plans to hold a similar event in the Spring.
