The
WIIT Charitable Trust
Monique Roske, Chair
The WIIT Holiday Gala and
WIIT Silent Auction were a resounding success! Despite heavy snowfall and
winter storm warnings, the WIIT Holiday Gala at the Swiss Embassy was very
well attended. A good time was had by all!
As in the past years, the WIIT Charitable Trust (a 501 [c] [3] organization) was the lucky beneficiary of the revenues generated by the Silent Auction on that special night. Thanks to WIIT, its very generous members, and their guests, the WIIT Trust received $4,500 in donations. I would like to take this occasion to say a special "thank you" to all who worked so hard on the WIIT Holiday Gala, and also to the WIIT members and their friends who were so generous in their bids and contributions!
As an aside, please allow me to mention that I drove home with a lovely mantel clock donated by the Pakistani Embassy. I hope that everyone enjoyed their "loot" as much as I did and continue to do.
In addition, I would be amiss if I did not say a special "thank you" to all who responded so generously to Julie Hughes' recent fundraising appeal on behalf of the WIIT Trust. We are grateful! As the Chair of the WIIT Trust, it will be my special task and challenge to ensure that you, our supporters, will be fully informed of our activities and our goals.
The WIIT Trust also is in the process of taking a hard look at its current website. We are working on finding a way to improve and update the website (www.wiittrust.org) and to incorporate its growth and development into our future grant proposals.
As for our Trade Education Project, we have heard from some of the teachers who attended our presentations and are currently using our lesson plans. In our upcoming "brownbag lunch" in February, Liese Wright and her colleagues will provide updates on this very special project.
My friends and I at the
WIIT Trust are looking forward to a very special year, and we promise to keep
you fully briefed on our upcoming exciting projects.
