Pays Tribute to Ways and Means Chairman Bill Thomas
On Tuesday, November 14 WIIT joined forces with Women in Government
Relations (WGR) and hosted over 50 members and friends of both organizations
at the Capitol Hill Club to pay tribute to retiring Ways and Means Chairman
Bill Thomas (R-CA). WIIT President, Nicole Bivens Collinson, and Peggy Tighe,
President of WGR offered opening remarks and thanked Chairman Thomas and his
staff for their many contributions to the international trade agenda during
his Chairmanship of the Committee. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX), a fellow
Ways and Means member introduced Chairman Thomas and shared reflections on
serving with him. Chairman Thomas reflected on his years of service and discussed
the legislative accomplishments of the Committee during his tenure as Chairman.
Chairman Thomas also offered a candid assessment of both the 'lame duck' Congressional
session and the future of the US trade agenda. The Legislative Affairs Committee
would like to thank Catherine Robinson for her assistance in planning the
event and the National Retail Federation for help securing space at the Capitol
Hill Club making this a very successful event.
