This year marks the bicentennial of U.S.-Brazil relations. Following Brazil’s independence in 1822, the United States was one of the first countries to recognize Brazil in 1824.
Today, Brazil has become one of the top U.S. agricultural export markets in the region, with total export value of approximately 1.01 billion in 2022. Brazil is also a global agriculture powerhouse, leading on production of sugar, coffee, soybeans, beef and orange juice. Also, this year, Brazil is acting as President of the G20 and has prioritized discussions of food system transformation and how food, the environment, and trade intersect.
Join the Association of Women in International Trade (WIIT) for a Zoom webinar featuring Nicole Podesta, Agricultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia to discuss trade topics including:
- The Brazil-U.S. agricultural trading relationship and why U.S. distilled spirits represent a growing market,
- Sustainability, climate change, and Brazil’s plans to reduce agriculture-influenced deforestation,
- How the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service represents the interests of U.S. producers in Brazil, collecting market intelligence on everything from cheese to coffee.
Featuring:
Nicole Podesta, Agricultural Attaché at U.S. Embassy Brasilia
Moderated by Cassandra Kuball, Vice President, Torrey Advisory Group and Co-Chair of WIIT’s Agriculture, Energy and Environment Program Section
