A frail rule of law system and corruption practices represent a significant non-tariff barrier to international trade, which harms economic activity and results in substantial costs for the global trade ecosystem. Join us to discuss the nexus between rule of law, anti-corruption practices and international trade. We will debate recent developments such as the anti-corruption provisions in Chapter 27 of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which includes the most unambiguous and detailed set of anti-corruption provisions of any trade agreement to which the United States is a party. We will also address current negotiations between Brazil and the United States for a limited scope trade agreement that will likely include an anti-corruption chapter. And taking a broader view, this event will also discuss the role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the inclusion of anti-corruption provisions in trade agreements. Join us for this exciting and timely discussion! This event will be on the record.
