Is effective communication a part of your job? Do you want to improve how you come across to your audience? The Association of Women in International Trade invites you to a two-part workshop with Voice & Communication Coach Christine Adam. In the first half of the event, Christine will talk about her research on how women’s voices are received in the public sphere, which indicates that women tend to be received more critically than men. In fact - there is often more focus on how a woman says what she says than on what she is actually saying. In response to this, a lot of communication coaching focuses on reinforcing masculinized norms that may not feel authentic to women, like advising them to ‘lower their voices’ or ‘take up more space’ in a way that might feel like they just have to put on another mask. Therefore, in the second half of the workshop, Christine will offer some practical tools and techniques that can help women find their authentic voices in an empowered way. Hosted by the WIIT Professional Development and DEI program sections, we hope you will join us on March 12 to find your authentic voice!
