Every year, WIIT organizes an activity to highlight female trailblazers in trade in celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD). This year’s IWD reception will provide members with an opportunity to hear from and network with two women who work daily to improve trade relations while also serving as powerful role models for the women in our trade community.
The event will feature remarks by
Martine Biron, who serves as
Québec’s Minister of International Relations and the Status of Women. Minister Biron spent 35 years in the field of journalism before running for office. She has covered the foreign affairs
beat in DC as a Washington Correspondent for Radio Canada and now has returned to the U.S. capitol as her province’s chief diplomat.
We will also host a fireside chat with the current
President and Chair of the Board of the U.S. Export Import Bank, Reta Jo Lewis. Chair Lewis has had a long career dedicated to public service, including serving in positions at the White House and the U.S. Department of State, before being confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve in her current role. Her confirmation marked a milestone in EXIM’s history when she became the first Black woman and the first person of color to lead the agency since its establishment in 1934.
