In the past two years, the U.S. and its global trading partners have experienced turbulence across our commodity markets due to COVID, climate events, and war, which have greatly affected our energy, agricultural and food systems. Join us for the first of a three-part series where our panelists will provide insight on how domestic and international policy around energy – in particular the natural gas space – has evolved and the potential implications for the future of trade of energy and food.

Bios:

Dagmara Koska deputizes for the Head of Global Issues and Innovation Section comprising climate, energy, environment, maritime affairs, transport, research & innovation and health policies. She oversees climate and energy policies for the EU Delegation and manages relations between the European Commission and the European External Action Service with the U.S. Administration, the U.S. Congress, the U.S. States and municipalities, non-governmental organisations, academia and U.S. industry. Dagmara has been a guest lecturer at a number of renowned U.S. and European universities. 

From 2014 to 2018, Dagmara Koska worked as Member of Cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Maroš Šefcovic (Energy Union). Prior to that role, Dagmara worked as Member of Cabinet of the Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Günther Oettinger. 

Dagmara is a German lawyer specialising in the German and International Competition and Energy Law and holds a Doctorate in the European Antitrust Law from Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn, Germany. Before joining the European Commission in 2008, Dagmara worked in law firms Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in Cologne and Redeker Sellner Dahs in Bonn, Germany, advising clients on German and International competition and corporate law.
 
Leslie Palti-Guzman has 15 years of experience as a commodity market research analyst, political risk adviser, entrepreneur, and energy intelligence reporter. She is the cofounder and CEO of Gas Vista, a market intelligence and predictive analytics provider focused on seaborne commodity trade flows and shipping routes. The company’s predictive maritime platform, Leviaton, is a unique analytical and data solution to anticipate trends in liquefied natural gas (LNG) flows, shipping, and emissions. She is also a New York University SPS Center for Global Affairs senior non-resident fellow and the author of the Energy Vista podcast. Prior to founding Gas Vista, she was the head of Rapidan Energy Group’s Global Gas Service, a nonresident fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, and a senior analyst at Eurasia Group. Ms. Palti-Guzman testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on challenges and opportunities for oil and gas development in different price environments. Ms. Palti-Guzman has established a strong professional reputation and is regularly asked to appear as a featured speaker at energy events and on television. She holds an MA in international affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She also holds both an MA and BA in political science and international affairs from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris. She is fluent in French and Spanish.
