CONGRATULATIONS to our two WIIT Trust Spring 2021 Scholarship winners! Madeline de Quillacq and Kelsey Kats have been selected as the WIIT Trust Global Leader Scholars. Their essay submissions on key trade topics (GSP and Health Trade) were great examples of innovative, critical thinking in trade!

Madeline de Quillacq is a proud French-American with citizenship in the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. She is also a 2021 graduate of the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University where she double majored in Economics and International Affairs with a concentration in International Economics. While at GW, she worked as a research assistant for the Institute of International Economic Policy for two years, studied abroad at Sciences Po in Paris for an academic year, and was president of the student org GW Women in Economics. She is especially interested in the ways international trade and development intersect.

Kelsey Kats is a graduate student at Georgetown University, completing her Master’s joint-degree in International Business and Policy while working full-time for the International Financial Corporation. Kelsey was first exposed to international trade policy at the United States Department of the Treasury, where she served as the Senior Advisor to the Treasurer of the United States and the Assistant Secretary for Management. She is eager to continue tackling challenges in the global trading system and focusing on the importance of trade to promote economic prosperity and improve development outcomes. Kelsey’s background is in investing and business journalism. Before joining the Treasury Department, she was a Producer for CNBC’s “Squawk Box” the network’s flagship morning news program focused on business and politics. She held several roles in investing and financial services at Centerview Partners and Brightstar Capital Partners. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and a concentration in Business Management from Columbia University.
