Professional Development

WIIT DC promotes the advancement of women in the field of international trade and business through our policy content programming and networking events. We are also proud to offer special programs focused on enhancing professional skills and exchanging career insights among members. This includes a mentorship program.

Ideas and suggestions for programs are always welcome. The current Co-Vice Presidents of Professional Development are Merhawit Hailu & Zoe Reid. Please feel free to send any suggestions to mentoring@wiit.org. 
 

New Mentorship Program – Interest Forms Due March 6!

WIIT is launching a new group mentorship program this spring! 

Details about the program include: 

• Mentoring groups will include one mentor and a small group of mentees.
• The topics each group covers will be decided by the groups themselves, supported by professional development content provided by a contracted program facilitator.
• Mentors will receive training before the launch of the program and regular support during its duration.
• The mentorship program will launch at an in-person event in late April (date TBA).
• Mentoring groups will be expected to meet monthly for five months, from May to September 2026. 
• The program will conclude with an in-person event for all participants in October. 

 At the conclusion of this pilot program, all participants will be asked for feedback to inform future versions of it. 

All interested participants should fill out the interest form by COB Friday, March 6. The information collected in the form will help the Professional Development Committee form mentoring groups of individuals interested in similar topics and with similar goals. Please be aware that capacity for this pilot program is limited, so some applicants may be placed on a waitlist for future sessions.
